Dan Chang, Executive Director

Dan Chang is the executive director of the Los Angeles Fund for Public Education. Prior to the LA Fund, he was the chief operating officer for LA’s Promise, a nonprofit organization that operates three secondary schools on contract for the LAUSD. Mr. Chang began his career in public education at Green Dot Public Schools, a nonprofit charter management organization with 18 secondary schools in Los Angeles. At Green Dot, Mr. Chang was responsible for new school development, opening 15 new schools in seven years. Mr. Chang also led the organization’s historic restructuring of Locke High School, transforming the traditional, comprehensive high school into a cluster of small autonomous college preparatory charter schools.

 

Mr. Chang’s private sector professional experiences include business development and product marketing positions at enterprise software companies Model N and Desktop.com. Before Model N and Desktop.com, he served as a financial analyst at Broadview International, a division of the investment bank Jefferies & Company where he advised on mergers and acquisitions in the IT, communications, and digital media industries. Mr. Chang participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education. He holds a BS in Business Administration from UC Berkeley and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
